Fruit & Flowers

Many years ago we came up with the idea of combining flowering plants with gift baskets and hampers, to create a range of fresh and vibrant flower gifts that can be enjoyed for longer. At that time we were the pioneering Gift Basket company in Ireland.
Until that point the logic went that since flowers were not one of the easiest gifts to transport, it was perhaps a market best left to a flower wholesaler or fulfilment specialist. When it came to the gift hamper industry, flower delivery did not exist as an option, with the majority of hampers sold made of up food. However, we were Basketsgalore, the Gift Basket Specialists for Ireland, and whilst we are able to go to extraordinary lengths to create artistic and colourful gift basket masterpieces, for many people flowers are an essential element of any good gift that they wish to send. Our customers were asking us if they could add flowers to their gift basket or hamper order, and we knew that we wanted to be able to service their requirements. And so we developed the fantastic range of hybrid fruit, flower and hamper gifts you see today on these pages in our Flowers and Fruit section of our website. Fast forward 20 years and the Fruit and Floral division of Basketsgalore now operates as a distinctive department, and has benefited from being able to include gourmet items from the food hamper and gift basket department to create excitingly innovative gift basket designs.

We First started selling Fruit Baskets back in 2004 as we responded to customer demand in the online market place.  We sent hundreds of Fruit Baskets for a variety of occasions with the most favourite basket being the simple Classic Fruit Basket.  However as time progressed and more companies joined the online/digital E-Commerce World, we simply couldn't compete with fruit wholesalers and exited the market place.  You can buy fruit cartons for as low as €25 online.  Not quite certain what you will get for that sort of money, but it explains why we're not keen to compete these days in the Fruit Gift or Basket Market sector of the industry.
Nowadays our fruit baskets combine colourfully and gracefully with our selected high quality food lines to offer something distinctly premium and exciting to the market.  They arent filled with fruit, but they are containing fruit and they are popularly versatile for a wide number of occasions.

For our potted flowering plants we favour miniature roses in a variety of delightful and vibrant colours. Sourced at budding stage from a high quality florist wholesaler, they are carefully gift wrapped for presentation style purposed before being shipped to the end receiver. Since 2005 we have never received anything other than positive comments, and we know from personal experience that these lovely flower plants will continue to bloom and give pleasure for months. Basketsgalore is delighted to offer a modern gift alternative to the traditional concept of sending flowers by post. Our combination flowers and more baskets are a contemporary 21st Century gift choice. They are imaginative, innovative and lend themselves perfectly to our innate human desire to celebrate special occasions, with friends and loved ones. Our customers continue to vote them a viable competitor to a bouquet of flowers, only much better.

The Flowering Gift Baskets on this page are derived from popular Food Gift Baskets, which enables us to strictly control their Quality. We like the Food components in our baskets to be fresh and stock to rotate regularly. We're the first to admit that sending flowers through the post is not something we think is a sensible option. Their fragility and biological requirements makes it a lottery on whether or not they will arrive in any decent standard of presentation. However our Flowering Gift Baskets are a different matter altogether.

The Fruit Baskets just like their Flowering Cousins are similarly based upon the same chassis so to speak with their origins in the company's Gourmet Food Purchasing Department.  There is a lovely mixture of popular customer favourite styles such as Savoury, Chocolate, Wines, Tea & Biscuits.  In the same way that we are not a florist, neither are we a fruit wholesaler.  Our fruit is hand selected and complements the Food elements of our immaculately presented Gift Baskets. 

We keep our prices down by taking a long term quality and logistics focused approach to doing business.  Our Fruit Baskets are basically only marginally bigger than the Food Baskets they are based upon meaning that the focus is on build quality, the minimisation of movement and environmental minimisation of transitory effect.  The final result is a brand product that you can trust to deliver time after time.  

The standard of presentation is impeccable. Every morning our little plants are plucked from their water tray and wrapped in the sort of fancy cellophane associated with Flowers. The Fruit Baskets are literally completed in the hour before collection to maximise their lifespan.  Later that same day any flowering component will link up with its partnering Fruit or Gift Basket as it comes through the shrink tunnel before being packaged and dispatched by air the same day to one of 3 central hubs in Europe. Germany, England and Ireland. Delivery whether it is Dublin, Berlin, Paris or Amsterdam will be next day.

In terms of fruits, the days of melons and pineapples are a thing of the past.  The sheer weight of such fruits made it extremely difficult to create the sort of packing quality we now demand for our products which have a global appeal.  The best quality oranges, apples, pears, kiwis and stoned fruit is the limit when it comes to packing our fruit baskets.  We don't do everything as we may have done in the past, but what we do is so much nicer.  These fruit basket will be received with much more happiness because they are intrinsically more beautiful and practical than the past.
